- 7. 1792- John Herschel was born. He mapped the southern skies and measured
the orbits of many double stars.
- 8. 1879- Otto Hahn was born. He was famous for his work in radioactivity,
fission of the uranium atom and chain nuclear reactions. He won a Nobel prize
in 1944.

improved the internal combustion engine.
1965- Alexi Leonov performs first space walk.
- 19. 1900- Jean Frederic Jollot, a French physicist, is born. He becomes famous
for his joint discovery of artificial radiation with Irene Curie. Won a Nobel
Prize in 1935.

- 21. 1925 - Wolfgang Pauli at 24 publishes his "Exclusion Principle."
- 22. 1868- Robert A Millikan, an American physicist, was born. He is famous for
his oil drop experiment, whereby he measured the charge on the electron. He
received a Nobel Prize in 1932.
- 23. 1840- First photograph of the moon is taken.
- 24. 1835- Josef Stefan, an Austrian physicist, was born. He developed an
important law in thermal radiation.
- 25. 1655- Titan, a moon of Saturn, is discovered by Christian Huygens.
- 26. 1753- Physicist Sir Benjamin Thompson, AKA Count Rumford, was born in Woburn,
Mass., USA.
- 27. 1802- Pallas, the second known asteroid, is discovered.
1807- Vesta, the third known asteroid, is discovered.
1834- Wilheim Konrad Roentgen was born. He discovered X-rays.
- 28. 1749- Marquis de Pierre LaPlace, a French mathematician and
astronomer, was born. He developed the theory of tides, orbital calculations
of the moon, and the analytical theory of probability.
