New Course: MATH 495-01
Topics For undergraduates: Waves

Waves are around us at all times. While water waves may be the first example that come to mind, both sound and light are also wave phenomena. Mathematics provides tools that allow us to analyze and describe waves from many physical contexts in a unified manner that focuses on the essential elements that cause the waves to propagate. In this course, we will study the solutions of basic mathematical models of waves. The emphasis will be on describing the behavior of waves in these models and the insights they provide into waves that are observed in the physical world.
