| Looking for a job... | joseph.kula@gmail.com | My name is Joseph Kula. After graduating from Montclair State I went to UNLV and earned a M.S. (2002) and Ph.D. (2007) degree in Geoscience. During these degrees I worked on reconstructing the thermal histories of arc-crust with emphasis on the changing rates of cooling during widespread extensional events. Additionally, I worked on some experiments in 40Ar/39Ar thermochronology related to the interpretation of complex age spectra from tectonites with multiple generations of mica growth. We now live in Houston, TX and I am currently considering several career opportunities. | ||

Spent one year teaching as adjunct staff at two universities in northern New Jersey. In 2002, I began my career with NOAA's National Weather Service. My first position was as the Service Hydrologist with the Tucson Arizona Weather Forecast Office. While there, I did research on flash flood hydrology, wildfire modification of runoff and flood generation, indirect discharge estimation, distributed rainfall-runoff modeling, and debris flows. In 2007, I took a position as the Senior Service Hydrologist at the Binghamton New York Weather Forecast Office. I reside in Johnson City New York. I am active with the northeast section meetings of the Geological Society of America (GSA). I have provided a link to my work web page. My duties entail providing professional development for teachers, leading science workshops for children and their families as well as assisting with the development of museum programming and exhibitions. At the present time, I am serving as a team member in the development of Life Changes, a traveling exhibition funded by the National Science Foundation aimed at introducing children ages six through eleven to key concepts in evolutionary biology in preparation for future academic endeavors. | ||
