TITLE/RANK Assistant Professor

DEPARTMENT Earth & Environmental Studies

DESCRIPTION Full-time (10-month), tenure-track position in surface hydrology, with emphasis on water resource management. The ideal candidate will also have strong research and teaching capability in applied GISciences and would interface with our existing strengths in geohydrology, remote sensing, coastal/estuarine systems, sedimentology, and climatology. Teaching responsibilities include introductory geoscience, geography, or environmental studies plus upper level and graduate courses within the applicant?s areas of expertise. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous externally funded research program, have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, and participate in developing and expanding departmental and interdisciplinary research and graduate programs, including the Doctorate in Environmental Management, Geoscience MS, Environmental Studies MA, Water Resources postgraduate certificate, Aquatic Science BS/MS, and activities associated with the Passaic River Institute. QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in geology, geography, or hydrology or other appropriate field prior to September 1, 2007. The successful candidates will provide evidence of a strong record of scholarly publication and research, of success obtaining extramural funding, and of involvement in professional organizations.
