PUBLIC TELESCOPE NIGHTS
Montclair State University, Montclair, NJ
Children are invited too!
- WHEN : 8 - 9 PM, Clear Thursdays:
September 4 to December 11, except November 27 (Thanksgiving)
7:30 for little kids on 9/11, 10/9, 11/6, 12/4, 12/11
ALSO: Friday, October 31, we will view the wonders of the sky
at Riker Hill Art Park in Livingston, 7-10 PM
with the Newark Museum's Dreyfuss Planetarium staff.
Directions to Riker Hill Art Park: Garden State Parkway exit 145 or NJ Turnpike exit 15W, Route 280 west,
exit 4 to Eisenhower Parkway south, go through the light, go across the railroad
tracks and up the hill, turn left onto Beaufort Ave., bear right to continue on
Beaufort, turn left at the sign for "Riker Hill Art Park." At the stop sign go
straight. Bear right at the fork, then park at the top of the hill.
- WHERE: In front of Richardson Hall, a science and mathematics building, just east of the Student Center.
- TO SEE : Constellations, the Moon, planets,
double stars, nebulae, galaxies, etc.
The Moon will be featured on September 11, October 9, November 6, and December 4, 11.
See Jupiter in September, October, and November.
See Uranus and Neptune in October and November.
Our telescopes cannot see through clouds!
Public Telescope Night will be cancelled if the weather is cloudy, very cold,
or very windy. (It is considered clear if you can see the moon or ten stars clearly.)

On February 1, 2007 kindergarten children
from
Ms. Cahill's class at Bradford School in Montclair
enjoyed a cold telescope night.
On October 2, 2003 and on October 19, 2000 the fifth graders from
Hardyston School came to Telescope
night and had a wonderful experience.
